Every time I tell Denton its time for new pictures he looks at me like I'm crazy. This was only the second time I've attempted to get pictures of both boys together and was very grateful that Denton was there to help wrangle at least one child. The photographer took a dozen or so pictures and only two had both boys looking at the camera and only one of them both smiling. The above picture was the very first one that she took. And we only needed one! I guess they weren't messing around!

Family Night

Last night was OhioHealth employee night at the Columbus Bluejackets hockey game. And who can say no to free tickets? We had a blast! Unfortunately the Bluejackets lost.

At the beginning of the game Mason was super excited and kept dancing to every song that was played. That excitement wore off within the first 6 seconds of the game. Luckily no one was sitting directly in front of Mason and we brought cars and snacks. When the Bluejackets scored Mason got super excited and started clapping and cheering with everyone else.

Ethan was a champ during the game. He just sat on our laps and talked to everyone sitting around us. He fell asleep during the game right before we left and as soon as we stepped outside and the cold wind hit him he immediately woke up.

Mason is dancing in the above picture. We taught him to dance in his carseat where he can only moved his arms. So now everytime he hears music he'll yell dance and start shaking his arms.

Ethan is now 7 months old and is learning a ton of new things. We call the pose in the above picture the playgirl pose. All he needs is a thick mustache and a van with no windows. He is crawling everywhere now and always has a car in his hand. He has been working on pulling himself up on everything. He would be more successful if Mason would stop pushing him over. E-man's hair still sticks straight up and I don't see that changing anytime soon. He loves taking baths. Hates getting out of the bath and dressed. Ethan has mastered his sitting skills; however, when he is sitting in the shopping cart he has a rubber butt and can't or won't sit. E loves to eat. He gets super excited when he is placed in the booster. Mason however doesn't want to give up his seat and usually eats most of his puffs. When we give him a bottle he holds it with his hands and feet. This evening I discovered that Ethan has his first bruise on his forehead. Unfortunately it isn't dark enough to show up in a photo.

Mason . . . well Mason is 2, enough said. Mason is into everything. Nothing is safe. He likes to push Ethan over, sit on Ethan, and drag Ethan around by his ankles. He likes to torture Molly. He will push Molly off the couch, off the chair, out of her bed, and throws her food into the trash. The toy room is always a mess because he likes to dump everything out on the floor and then leaves. The kid loves to eat and is constantly dragging us to the pantry for more food. When we are giving him something super yummy he lets us know by rubbing his tummy and saying, "Mmm" over and over. Mason is doing awesome using the potty. He's even told us he has to go a couple of times. And as always we love to find little presents laying around (Can't blame him for dropping them off, no one wants to carry that around in their drawers.) The day he had the squirts wasn't fun but we made it past that incident.

We had family photos taken a week or so ago. I'm sure the photographer was grateful when we finally packed up and left. Mason did not want to cooperate. The props were just too much fun and were calling his name. Ethan is a champ with photos and makes it hard to choose just one photo.

This was the only photo that everyone was looking at the camera and/or smiling. I didn't realize it was off center until now. Can't complain too much it was a free photo.

Ethan started eating baby food a few weeks ago and he has done awesome. He gets so excited when I put him in the high chair. But today I turned my back for a second to answer the phone and this is what I caught Mason feeding Ethan. I think more food ended up on Ethan and in Mason's mouth then what Ethan actually got to eat.

Halloween 2011

This year was the first year that we took Mason out to trick or treat. At first he didn't really know what was going on, but after visiting a couple of houses he knew the drill and was a pro at taking candy from strangers. By the end of the night he was trying to run up to house, grab his candy and said thank you as he ran to the next house. Denton and I thought it was odd that most of the people sat in their garages/drive ways to hand out candy. (Mason scored us some good candy!)

This year Mason was a zoo keeper. He absolutely loved wearing the hat. He even took it to bed that night.

Ethan was a dinosaur! Everyone thought the little guy was super cute. I loved the stuffed tail that stuck out the back. He also started army crawling and trying to get up on his knees. Mason finds some enjoyment in Ethan's new abilities and I have caught him many MANY times trying to pick Ethan up and dragging him around the living room by his ankles.

Pumpkin Patch

Last week Mason, Ethan and I hit up a pumpkin patch with our play group. Mason had tons of fun running in the muddy fields. Mason also got to play in a hay maze and a corn box. He had so much fun!

Ethan is such a happy little man! All you have to do is look at him and he totally lights up. (He also started saying ma ma this week!)

Mason turned two on Saturday. He started off the day waking up to his bedroom being filled with balloons. In the morning we woke up to his laughing and caught him kicking the balloons around his room. Krystee made him a car cake. And we had a hard time keeping his fingers out of the icing. (he ate so much blue icing his poo was very colorful the next day)

Mason really wants to have nice clean teeth so tonight he went upstairs into our bathroom, climbed up to the vanity and took out the toothbrush and toothpaste then walked back downstairs to show me how a big boy does it. Now to get him to poop in the toilet.

Thurman Cafe

Mason was a super bad boy so we gave him an ice cube to suck on. We decided to go to the Thurman Cafe near Ohio State for dinner tonight. We first heard of this place while watching Man vs. Food. Anyway Gov. Schwarzenegger ate there once an got a burger named for him (the Thurmonator). It was like the Thurman burger I ordered on steroids.

Krystee sure looks cute with those little dudes.
These burgers are all 3/4 lb patties and loaded. Mine had ham, 2 kinds of cheese, lettuce, tomato, beef patty, sauteed mushrooms/onions, and banana peppers.
Took Mason a while but he eventually grabbed Krystee's meat and pounded it.

Well it's official, like a referee whistle. I'm a doctor and I start on the night shift on the 1st. Gotta say though, that I look good in this coat. I just wish the lighting were a little better. Hope Krystee likes being a single mom for a while. Wish me luck.

We went to the mall today and got some cute pics of the little dudes. Either of them alone was alright, but it was a nightmare trying to get pictures of the both. Mason is still infatuated with his little bro. Ethan is still trying to survive the random beatings from Mason and tongue lashes from Molly. All is well here with us. Excited to graduate and move to Ohio.

Well our little man Ethan James was born on Saturday 4/30 at 12:47 am. He's a little cutie who loves to eat and sleep, just like his daddy. He's been a very happy boy, he even absorbs some serious right crosses from Mason. He was born 7lb 13oz, and 20.5 in tall. A little taller and lighter than his big brother. He has a full head of brown hair too. Mom and baby are both doing well and will be coming home Monday 5/2.

So last weekend I went to Columbus OH looking for houses to buy. I looked at 40 or so over 3 days and narrowed the search down to 2. Krystee obviously wanted to buy the cheaper one but I talked her into the bigger and more spendy one. It's 3 bed 2.5 bath with a den and a partially finished basement and a small yard. The house is only a few minutes from the hospital and the church which is gangsta. Here's a video I put up on youtube so that Krystee felt included in the whole process.

Well today we finally made it to the zoo. Not a bad day either, only 90 degrees outside. Mason enjoyed the stroller rides but especially feeding a giraffe, riding a camel, and the goat petting zoo. The lady at the ticket counters for the camel asks for the age of Mason. Mom replies that he's 1. She says that he needs to be to 2 so then I say, Mom, he's not 1 he's two, you're crazy. Then Mom says that she has so many grand kids it's hard to keep track.

Nigh-Nigh time

Every time we tell Mason that it's time to go nigh-nigh he immediately runs over to Pop Pop and lays down . Krystee thinks he's trying to get out of going to bed by pleading his case to me that he is a good boy. He'll keep giving me hugs until I finally give in and put him to bed. The funny thing is, it doesn't matter who tells Mason that he's going to bed first, he always runs to dad. He's a cute little guy and I hope this phase lasts a while. His new trick is climbing out of his crib. 2 days in a row we wake up to him trying to climb into our bed. Needless to say, the mattress is now on the floor.

In other news, I matched into an anesthesiology position in Columbus Ohio and will be moving there in June. Getting ready to finally be a doctor (with a limited license).

The general rule with kids is that when they're quiet, they're doing something naughty. Well Mason wasn't exactly quiet during this event. While watching a show in the living room, I could hear Mason saying, "mmmmmm, mmmmmm." Then I saw the his little legs dangling from a kitchen chair with our dog up on two legs, nose crammed in his crotch. Then I remembered, I left the brand new box of doughnuts on the table. Krystee and I enter the kitchen to find this:

It was too funny not to get some pictures of the carnage. You can see 2 left in the box, I shared one earlier with Mason, Krystee shared 1-2 with Mason then Mason and Molly polished off the rest minus 2. Needless to say that this kid didn't eat his dinner well. Nothing like a Lantus shot before bed.

La Florida

So the family ventured to Florida with me earlier this month to Largo FL, on an island west of Tampa. I was origionally going there for an internal medicine interview and thought it would be nice for Krystee and Mason to meet the residency director of the anesthesia program that I worked at in September, (I cancelled the IM interview and booked an anesthesia interview in its place). Needless to say, the trip was mostly fun with a little bit of business. We ate at some good resaurantes and went to the beach a couple times. Mason is gonna be a serious scuba diver later, that kid is addicted to the water. It was super cold and he just kept playing. Other than that he walked in the sand chasing birds and hot latina women in small bikinis (they grow up so fast).

Mason on his first trip to FL. Krystee was just glad that for the 2nd time in his 11 or 12 flights I was there. He did awesome on the plane on the way there. He loved spinning in circles in the empty middle seat. He spun until he got dizzy and fell, then he would do it again.

There is a little play area in the concourse in Tampa that Mason played in for a while before we boarded. Some really squishy floors and airplanes/clouds for the kids to climb on. Mason climbed in the one above by himself, kicking a 4 year old girl out of it. He had a blast. Needless to say, we all had fun and I learned that at least I'm in consideration for a spot at the anesthesia program next year. I don't know how many people are being considered but I do know that there are only 2 spots so wish me luck.

We took Mason's 10 month photos a little early because we will be in Spokane for the rest of the month. This is by far my favorite picture of him (so far). He totally looks like he is up to no good. Which is true. He has learned how to get into all of the cabinets (locks may be in our future). He also started walking earlier this week. Although he still prefers to crawl. I guess its still the fastest method of traveling for him right now.

These two play (and fight) together all day. On this day Mason was playing with a box and Molly wanted to join in. Mason drug Molly inside the box all over the house. It was hours of fun for both of them.

Mason is now 9 months old. He loves to play under the kitchen table. He has been getting braver with standing and using his walker. Which also means more bumps and bruises and falls. He also loves to eat. If he thinks you are eating something he will come running over and smack his lips until you give him a bite. He still loves to play with Molly. And neither of them have learned to share toys yet. Mason sprouted his first tooth at the beginning of the June and likes to bite our toes and clothes.

Mason also enjoys playing in the pantry. As soon as the door is open he races in and starts grabbing canned food and the potatoes. (Once he left a potato out in the middle of the kitchen floor and Molly decided to eat it. I guess she wanted a treat.) He also does that same when we open the freezer and refrigerator. But with those he may just be trying to cool down.

He LOVES his walker. He will continue to walk until he hits a wall and then scream until someones turns him around. I can't wait for him to figure out how to turn.

His personality has started to blossom and he cracks us up everyday.

Bad Habits

Usually when I think of bad habits I picture something like biting fingernails. Lately I have realized that Denton and I are suffering from a bad habit that probably should stop but neither of us want to stop. We are good at putting our little man to bed at about the same time every night and he usually falls asleep promptly and without drama. Here is where our bad habit comes into play. Before we go to bed a few hours later we can't help but to go into Mason's room and check on him. (Nothing wrong with that!) Here is the bad part . . . we can't help but pick him up and snuggle with our sleeping man. On the days that I fight the urge Denton gives in and picks him up.

Mason has started being mobile. For the past month or so Mason has been army crawling all over the place. His favorite spots are Molly's water dish and all the electronics Denton has to have to go with our tv (ie DVR, Wii, Xbox, PS3). And he still makes a bee line for Molly's cow hoof and toys. It has been entertaining and crazy chasing the little guy all over the place and bringing him back to the center of the floor. Last week Mason has stated getting up on all fours and rocking back and forth. This usually frustrates him and makes him cry, he wants to move so bad. I think his problem is he wants to move both of his hands at the same time and then jump forward with both legs. We are looking forward to all the drama and trouble that comes with crawling. We are currently trying to figure out some gate that will keep Mason out of the kitchen but is still open so that Molly can run in and out as she pleases.

Our little boy is now 6 months old! These pictures are not the best. (They were taken with Denton's iphone) Mason is now weighing in at 17 lbs 1 oz and is 27 inches long. And he has his first ear infection. He is taking his medication like a trooper, but I don't think he likes the taste. He gives me a dirty look every time I make him take it. He isn't crawling yet but can make it all over the living room by scooting on his tummy. His favorite toys are Molly's chew toys. I looked away for a second this morning and caught Mason and Molly playing with the same toy. Oops! At least he's learning early to share.

In the wild wild west

Krystee, Mason, and Molly came to visit me in Sierra Vista last weekend. Since we only had one day together I decided to make the best of it. Hence, Tombstone AZ, "The town too tough to die." For those who aren't aware of the town, it's the sight of the shootout at the O.K. Corral. It also was the largest city west of the Mississippi and nearly became the capitol of the west in 1882.
First stop pictured above was some chick and I think her last name is Sanchez. Just a fun shot.

Mason and me in the oriental saloon. The owner of this establishment ran out the back doors and shot and killed "Billy the Kid."
There is some history behind the theatre but I didn't want to pay $10 each to tour it. There was a stage and some prostitutes that work there. Interesting side note, prostitution was legal in the 1880's and the women actually had business licenses.
Best part of the town, the Good Enough mine. This silver mine was the reason that the town became relevant at all. The silver was worth $2000 per ton and the workers worked 6 days a week and 10 hours a day for $96 a month, an actual lucrative career then, (army $30 a month).
Mason enjoyed the tour but was hungry during, so every pit stop when the tour guide would talk, we would feed. That Graco stroller is a beast too. It handled the 62 stairs and the rough mine terrain with relative ease.
Super dark inside and a constant 62 degrees. That's Krystee, I think.
I held a light up to Mason for a picture. He was loving the mine. All was fine, even after Mason took a nose dive in his carrier while walking back up the 60 stairs.
This is the actual sight of the shootout. It technically wasn't part of the O.K. Corral but details, details. In the picture, the 8 men are as they were then. The Earp's and Doc Holliday on one side (under the sign) and the Clanton's and McLaury's on the other. The Earp's and Holliday were injured (excpet Wyatt, untouched), the Clanton's and McLaury's were killed except Ike Clanton who ran off. The enitre day was spent with me whistling the theme song to Young Guns. "I ain't ever drew first but I drew first blood..."

Momma's Little Man

Mason had been growing like a weed! His 0-3 month clothing is already getting snug and short. He is also doing excellent at holding his head up and looking around the room. He loves being held and in the evenings as soon as you set him down he starts to whine and fuss. Molly has been a good second mom. She is always close by and ready to soothe him by licking his feet. And when she does lick his feet Mason starts to smile and attempts to giggle. Its really easy to get Mason to smile now, especially at diaper change time (which makes changing his blow outs easier). As soon as his head hits to changing table he immediately starts grinning.

Nap times have been a challenge. As soon as he is out and laying down Molly comes running in with her collar rattling or growling and barking or playing with her toys. Its a good thing that he enjoys watching Molly running around the living room or I just might be upset with her. At least he is sleeping like a champ (most nights). We usually put him to bed around 8pm and he will sleep until around 3am for a quick bite and nods off again. Most days he is wide awake at 6-7 and refuses to sleep anymore.

We are looking forward to moving this weekend. We are slowing getting ready and I feel that I have a good plan for getting things packed, upacked and put away quickly. I am hoping that everything is done and the christmas tree up by the time we leave for Spokane.

3 weeks of Mason

Now the real parenting can begin. It was some what easy since the first 2 weeks Krystee had her mom in town then mine came in after that. A good solid 3 weeks of help. First night without a grandma around, Mason stays up and is super fussy, at least that is what Krystee tells me. Either way, the baby is doing well and gaining weight like he should now, come on, he's a Davenport after all.
As hard as it was for Krystee to have a C-section, she is really enjoying this little guy. She calls him "little dude" and "spider monkey".
I'm liking this baby too. He's a handful at night sometimes but he's a good boy.
We get this look all the time. He just wants to be awake and held. He like to look around and does very well holding up his head.
Nevertheless, our baby knows how to use his lungs. He can scream like the best of 'em. Thanks to grandma D for taking a photo shoot of Mason nearly everyday.

Mason update

Things have been a little interesting here at home since we got back on Saturday night. Molly only wanted to play with the little dude. She wanted to give him serious kisses. We had to hold her back from licking Mason's face off. She is now a lot better with Mason and will lay on the couch while we hold Mason. The baby has his awake time from midnight to 2 am. That totally sucks. He isn't fussy as long as he is held. Otherwise, the baby is great. He loves to cuddle with his mom and Grandma. Krystee is doing well. The dog will jump up on her and hurt her incision but she is getting better preventing it.

Well, baby Mason was born today and was 8 lbs 5 oz and 20" long. He is one big kid. The events started Wednesday at 3:00 pm when we got into the hospital. After nearly 24 hours of non-eventful labor, Mason's heart rate started dipping too low and the doctor took Krystee in for a C-section. It turns out that the cord was around Mason's neck and getting tighter as he got lower. Both the mother and baby are fine and are resting now. He has such soft dark wavy hair and poutty (sp) lips like momma.

Good Golly Miss Molly

It's been about 3 months since we picked Molly up at the puppy store and she has kept us entertained the whole time. Potty training went really well until we took her to the vet to get fixed. She is currently doing well with going outside be we still need to remind her sometimes that its time to go potty. She has also learned what bye-bye means and will start whining to go out for a walk when she hears Denton say it. Molly's favorite thing to do outside is to lay and slide around in the grass, especially if the sprinklers have just gone off and she's had a bath that day. We are excited to move into our new house and show Molly the patch of grass in the backyard.

Molly just wanted to say hi to all her friends that she now has. She loves having guest over, especially uncle Drew. Don't think that she just cute though, she's also straight gangsta.
This is Molly's what's up dog face. She has learned to potty outside, mostly, the kitchen tile is also nice. She can come only when Krystee calls her.

Introducing Molly into the Davenport home. I held Krystee off for 3 years from getting a dog but couldn't do it any longer. We got Molly on Saturday and Krystee hasn't stopped smiling since. She is a little dog weighing in at 8 lbs. She's a Toy Fox Terrier and will grow another couple inches and fill out a little before she is done.

All she has really done today is sit next to Krystee. She even laid down next to the shower door while Krystee showered. Then jumped in when Krystee was drying off. Molly loves her new mommy.

Her favorite thing it to put her paws on the coffee table while we sit on the couch. Another favorite of hers right now is to pee on the carpet. Potty training this one will be interesting.
It wasn't easy getting her home though. We took her to a friends house so she could play with their Chihuahua. She vomited on the in the car at Drew's free exit and then again as soon as we parked in our friend's driveway. Not too much to clean since I had paper towels from Mexico still in the car. After playing for a while we took her home and once again as soon as we parked our car in our carport she vomited. I guess she is telling us to keep driving.

Well as you know it was my B-Day last week, #26, so we decided to have a little fun. First we had dinner at PF Changs, excellent food. Then we came home had birthday cake (that Krystee made) and opened presents. Here are some pictures. I look good with the handle bar stache don't I.

Christmas eve and Christmas activities

Above is the Mesa temple lights. We went to see them on Christmas eve. While walking around I ran into the first of my trainees in the mission Elder Fultz, that was weird since he's from NY. From there we were going to go to Cafe Rio that's near by (the only one in AZ I think). Guess what, it was closed so we hit an alternative.

That's right, McDonald's. Not nearly as good as Cafe Rio but we can't complain. Christmas was unusual since we stayed in AZ. No turkey this year for the 2 of us instead, I steamed us up some lobster.
We felt like we were an a cruise ship. We made our butter sauce as well to dip it in. Man was it tasty too. The only problem is the lack of left-overs for the day after, oh well. As far as gifts go thanks to all who gave especially Di and Gordo for the AMC tickets and shirt, and Mom and Dad for the Wii. It's great to watch Krystee pout when the Wii tells her she's unbalanced. Also to Krystee's parent for the Rada knives. They slice and dice but can't go in the dishwasher (it's their kryptonite).

I got back from the eye doctor today and I look like I'm high on coke with how dilated my pupils are right now. I went through the whole array of tests since I've never been in for an eye exam. So what did I learn? I learned that my left eye is 20/20 minus a couple letters and my right eye is 20/15. I already knew that however. I also learned that I have astigmatism in both eyes but is worse in my right. I'm not to the point of need corrective lenses although he thought it might be a good idea for lectures since I'm way in the back and all the presentations are done via power point. I'll tell you what though, it is odd to have your eyes dilated so much, I'm having a hard time reading and seeing clearly at all for that matter. That's all for today.

I know all of you are wondering about the goings on with Krystee and me so here is a little update. I just took a pharmacology test and beat out the average with an A-. The teacher was disappointed with our average since this is the easiest test of the year. She says that anyone who barley passed (70 is minimum passing score) who probably fail the course. My life is nearly like Bill Murry in Groundhog Day. The only thing that changes is the test I'm studying for. On a side note, I own the ping-pong table during lunch. I'm like the great and talented veteran who takes on all challengers and sends them home with a loss.
Krystee is still working the same job and hating it but now she gets to travel and do screenings. She'll be in California several times in October to do screenings. All expenses are paid and there are serious opportunities for overtime. Anyway, we'll post some other stories with pictures soon. Go Seahawks!

With Denton starting school, I have found myself having too much free time. So I have started to pick up some little projects here and there to pass the time. One of the many projects on my list was making a candy dish (it's the one pictured above) for the upcoming Halloween season. There is a really cute pottery studio a few minutes from our apartment and I just could not pass up the opportunity to do something new. So I called up my friend Liz and we left our husbands to study. Painting our candy dishes was so much fun. We were at the studio for about 3 hours. More talking then painting got done. And we are already planning our next trip and of course I found some coupons for next time.

Washington D.C. ( the scenic route)

First off, you're in for a little read with this blog, anyway, what a great looking place D.C. is. Anyway, during July I was at a chapter officers conference for my club AMSA in D.C. The conference was going to be lame (turned out that I was right) so a roommate and I rented a car to go into D.C. for some sight seeing. First stop (after trying to find a parking spot for nearly and hour) the white house. Notice the T-shirt anyone? I thought it would be fitting to wear while I was in town. The next stop on the tour was the Lincoln memorial, along the was is the reflection pool.
It's a long walk from the white house to the Lincoln memorial but we made it inside for another convenient pictures with Honest Abe and my shirt.
We then hit up the Korean and Vietnam memorials on our long journey to the Jefferson memorial.That was a beast of a walk but we did get to see the FDR memorial on the way.
After what seemed an eternity and with now severe crotch rash, we made it to the building.On our way back to the car we passed the Holocaust Memorial Museum which was pretty cool. The entire way through the city we could see the Washington monument, here's a good picture.We get home from a long day an take a nap. We still have the car till like 10:00 the next morning so I call Krystee and ask how far away the D.C. temple is. She says it's only 30 minutes so I decide to go and take a different roommate with me. The plan was to see the temple, take some pictures, and then go see D.C. with him. That isn't what happened though. We drive to the temple and man it is huge. It seems so much bigger than the Salk Lake temple. We pull into a parking lot that I thought was the main temple lot, it turned out to be for the visitors center but the gates were open. It's about 10:00 pm at the time. Since the gate was open I decided not to move the car to the main lot. We get out and take some pictures.We get back to the car and it is now about 10:45 pm and we realize that the gate is closed and pad-locked. Needless to say, this sucks. I call Dad and tell him what happened and he told me to try and call the temple President. We walk to the main lot and then start on our way out toward the street, we see a security booth. Guess what, there's no one in there but the gate is still open. There is however a phone in a water tight case. I open it and try to call but there is no directory and the temple operator has already gone home. Now what, I call Krystee and she says, hey we should call a temple in California because they are still open and might have a number for you. She gives me the number to San Diego. I call and talk to the operator and say hi, this might sound a little off but I'm locked in the D.C. temple parking lot. She tells me, that's the first time I've heard that one. Anyway, she tells me the name of the temple president but doesn't have the number. Back to Krystee, I have her google to name to try and find a number, the only one she saw for Maryland said the guy was 35-39 years old. We try it anyway, at this time it's literally 12:00 am. In the mean time we tried opening every temple door and knocking to try and awake the clean up crew and the same with the visitors center. I even tried a friend of mine who's uncle works at the LDS offices. He calls me back and tells me he's at Yellowstone, no help there. Back to the midnight phone call. I call and the first time I get a voice mail. I try again and some one picks up so I ask is this the Washington D.C. temple president... no response so I ask again... no response then the phone gets hung up. Now I know that they're home so I try again and I hear what sound like an angry black lady on the phone and I ask again is this the home of the Washington D.C. temple president. She says why you calling at midnight, and I told her I'm looking for the temple president, does he live there. She says but why you calling at midnight, you wouldn't call anybody at midnight. I say, I'd call the temple president (I used his name though) in an emergency like this. She says, so this is an emergency. I says yes and she hands me to some guy and he says, hello. I ask is this the Washington D.C. temple president and he says, nope. So I say sorry for the inconvenience and hang up. Fun call right? I ended up calling 911 and after a run around they say they'll have someone come out when he can. It's nearing 1:00 am when the cop shows up. I track him down and we try the phone at the temple loading dock and nothing so I tell him that there is a grass and concrete pathway separating the two lots and say if I could get the car up over the curb then we could get down the path and out the main gait. He drives me over in his car and then jumps the curb in his patrol car and tries to get up the little hill but the grass is wet and he's burning rubber, grass if flying and I think that I'm condemned for sure. He parks and then I tell him it's downhill for me and I show him the rental Pontiac GT. He walks it up the curb real gentle (or for Kelmen real nice and deep like). He stops on top of the hill and needless to say we get to the other lot and as soon as we do, 2 cars pull out of the parking lot, nice right? We end up getting out just after 1:00 am. It was fun though searching every crevice of the temple and visitor center grounds with a non-member from Nigeria. That concludes my exciting trip to D.C.

Robot Jox

In honor of the fourth I thought I'd show a futuristic movie that portrays what would happen if there were to be a nuclear war and the aftermath that would occur. The movie that accurately describes these events are found in the early 80's movie Robot Jox which in my opinion should have received some awards or at least best picture. Anyway here is a little clip of this groundbreaking movie. If you liked transformers, wait till you see this.

Grand Canyon

My parents came out to Arizona the first week of June. It was so much fun having them out here. The one thing that my Dad wanted to do while they were here was go to the Grand Canyon. And we did just that. I had to drive the whole way there and the whole way back and the entire time we were there. Most of the way to the Canyon and back my Mom slept and my little sister, Tracie read. And Dad enjoyed every minute of not having to drive. He was spoiled! There were so many beautiful places to take pictures at and we took advantage of that fact. Mom and Dad made fun of me a little bit because I am not camera shy and every chance possible I was posing in front of a picture even if I had to take the photo myself.

Other highlights of the week included hitting the mall and making a really cute bag to carry our primary books to and from church in. The downside of the bad is that it is girly and Denton is refusing to carry something is has any frills on it.

While my Dad was here Denton even got in on the fun of learning something new. Denton learned how to change his brake pads. Something that has needed to get done for quite some while. And he learned how to replace the headlights and brake lights on our cars. We also learned that our futon is comfortable enough to spend a week on and don't sleep on the edge or you will fall out. Overall it was a great week and we hated seeing them go home.
